Etiaba hails Peter Obi as advocate of good governance beyond politics

ABUJA— Former Governor of Anambra State, Dame Virgy Etiaba, has described the Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, as an exceptional leader whose commitment to public service and good governance transcends political affiliation.

Etiaba, who was Obi’s deputy when he served as governor of Anambra State, made the remarks in her birthday message to the former governor, commending his contributions to economic revitalisation, national development and inclusive growth.

In a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Idris Zekeri, Etiaba said Obi’s commitment to accountability, empathy and prudent management of resources reflects the ideals of effective governance and transparent administration.

She described Obi’s dedication to service, integrity, discipline and purposeful leadership as qualities worthy of emulation.

Celebrating Obi on his 65th birthday, Etiaba said: “I am pleased to join countless Nigerians and admirers globally in celebrating His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi. Beyond his political endeavours, Mr Peter Obi has emerged as a significant voice in discussions surrounding diligence, integrity, capability and active civic engagement.”

She said Obi had consistently demonstrated how responsible resource management, investment in education, healthcare and infrastructure, as well as the promotion of equal opportunities, could advance national development and encourage citizens’ participation.

Etiaba noted that Obi’s 65th birthday was a milestone that should inspire Nigerians, particularly young people, to embrace the values of achievement, peace and commitment to national progress.

She added that throughout his career in business, public service and national leadership, Obi had shown dedication to societal development.

“As he marks this important birthday, my prayer is that the Almighty bestows upon him continued good health, wisdom and strength, ensuring his contributions to governance, fiscal prudence and national development remain profoundly influential,” she said.
