Flying Eagles Star Daniel Daga Acquitted Of Sexual Assault As Norwegian Appeal Court Overturns Conviction

InformationNG about 2 hours 2 mins read

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Daniel Daga has been acquitted of sexual assault by a Norwegian appeal court, overturning an earlier ruling that sentenced him to six months in prison.

His club, Molde FK, confirmed the decision in a statement released on Thursday after the Frostating Court of Appeal delivered its unanimous verdict.

Daga had been convicted in March over an alleged sexual assault involving an unnamed woman in April 2025. He was formally charged on December 19, and following the conviction, Molde sidelined him indefinitely from first-team selection.

With the appeal court overturning the conviction, the club announced that the 19-year-old “will be available to play for Molde FK in the future.”

“Daniel Daga has been unanimously acquitted in the criminal case that has been heard by the Frostating Court of Appeal. Molde FK takes note of the verdict, even though the verdict is not yet final,” the club said.

The club added: “The club recognises that this has been a serious and stressful matter for everyone affected.

“Since the indictment was filed, Molde FK has made ongoing assessments based on the situation and the club’s responsibility as an employer.”

Daga joined Molde at the start of the 2025 season and has made 15 appearances for the Norwegian side, scoring three goals.
