Uganda is mourning the passing of former Second Deputy Prime Minister and Adjumani West County Member of Parliament, Gen. Moses Ali, 87, who died on Saturday at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.
According to preliminary information, the veteran politician, freedom fighter and statesman passed away at around 4:25 p.m.
Gen. Moses Ali was one of Uganda’s longest-serving political and military leaders, with a public service career spanning several decades. He served as the country’s Second Deputy Prime Minister and held various ministerial positions under successive governments. At the time of his death, he was serving as the Member of Parliament for Adjumani West County.
Widely regarded as a distinguished patriot, Gen. Ali played a significant role in Uganda’s political and security landscape and was respected for his contribution to national reconciliation, peace-building and public service.
News of his passing has prompted an outpouring of condolences from political leaders, colleagues and members of the public, many paying tribute to his dedication to the country and his decades of service.
The government and the family are expected to announce funeral arrangements and further details in due course.
Gen. Moses Ali’s death marks the end of an era for one of Uganda’s most experienced and influential statesmen.
