The 2026 FIFA World Cup came to a spectacular close on Sunday with a star-studded closing ceremony at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, ahead of the tournament’s final.
EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson opened the ceremony with a rendition of the United States national anthem, The Star-Spangled Banner.
The pre-match celebration featured an array of internationally acclaimed entertainers assembled to mark the conclusion of the first 48-team FIFA World Cup.
American singer and rapper Post Malone headlined the ceremony, while British pop star Robbie Williams performed, including a rendition of the FIFA anthem Desire alongside Italian singer Laura Pausini and singer Nicole Scherzinger.

Popular streamer and internet personality IShowSpeed also appeared, adding a youthful energy to the event.
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance during the ceremony, delivering an inspirational segment from a podium. American tenor Christopher Macchio also performed America the Beautiful.
Produced by Balich Wonder Studio, the ceremony took place about 90 minutes before kick-off, combining live music, visual effects and stage production to celebrate the tournament’s global appeal and the participation of all 48 competing nations.
Separate from the pre-match festivities, FIFA also staged its first-ever World Cup halftime show in partnership with Global Citizen.
The 11-minute performance will feature Justin Bieber, Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the PS22 Chorus, with support from Coldplay. The performance was organised to raise awareness for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.
