Nigerian newspapers review: [PFIPC] Gbaja slams N15b suit against Adeyemi

Vanguard Nigeria about 1 hour 2 mins read

In today’s Nigerian newspapers review programme, Today in the News, Vanguard leads with the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, instituting a N15 billion defamation suit against Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, over allegations that he demanded a 48 per cent kickback from a N27.3 billion take-off grant approved for a federal agency.

Another headline features experts and stakeholders explaining why President Bola Tinubu must overhaul the country’s football administration.

Vanguard also reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is considering a mock presidential poll before the January election.

Moving to another newspaper, The Guardian’s top headline reads “How ‘hungry’ Nigeria loses 38m tonnes to poor post-harvest plan”.

The Punch reports that two years after the Supreme Court ordered the direct payment of federal allocations to local government councils, implementation of the landmark financial autonomy judgment remains stalled despite N10.48tn being allocated to the third tier of government within the period.

Lastly, The Nation’s top headline states that six months to the presidential and National Assembly elections, the electoral agency has heightened the tempo of activities.
