Enyimba Football Club of Aba on Wednesday suffered another defeat in the Nigeria Premier Football League, losing 2-3 at home to Sporting Lagos.
The result, which kept Enyimba at the bottom of the league table, left some of the fans disappointed after the 90-minute encounter.
Enyimba had taken the lead in the first half through Stanley Dimgba’s strike, but Sporting Lagos equalised in the 52nd minute.
Iyanda Tobi put Enyimba in front again in the 54th minute through a spot kick.
But the celebration was short-lived as Sporting Lagos scored two more goals to wrap up victory against the former Nigerian and African champions.
Reacting to the situation, Enyimba posted a short statement on its official Facebook page, saying, “A disappointing loss.”
DAILY POST recalls that the Chairman of Enyimba and former Nigerian forward, Kanu Nwankwo, had on Tuesday rallied the fans of the club to keep faith with the team during its trying period.
Kanu, in the message, assured the fans that Enyimba would bounce back.
