The National People’s Party (NPP) Students’ Wing on Tuesday said the upcoming December presidential election will be decided by preparation and public confidence rather than political commentary or speculation, asserting that the party is best placed to win the contest.
Writing for the Students’ Wing, President Yusuf Tunkara said the NPP has spent months strengthening grassroots structures and engaging communities across the country, from villages to urban centres. He contrasted that activity with what he described as opposition preoccupation with coalition talks and “strategic arithmetic.”
“The NPP enters this election as the most organised, most prepared, and most nationally connected political party ready to seek the confidence of Gambians once again,” Tunkara said.
Tunkara said President Adama Barrow is campaigning on a record of governance coupled with a forward-looking vision, rather than on promises alone. He added that every election represents a fresh mandate that must be earned through demonstrated performance and continued engagement with citizens.
The Students’ Wing framed the December vote as a choice for voters who prioritise stability, development and experienced leadership. The statement urged Gambians to compare records and assess the preparedness of each party before making an informed decision.
Tunkara said the Students’ Wing will focus on respectful engagement, peaceful mobilisation and encouraging eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.
