The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun has extended the service year of 11 corps members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream to one year for various infractions committed during their national service.

The state coordinator, Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, made this known on Thursday while monitoring the low-key passing-out ceremony held simultaneously across the 30 Local Government Areas and the Area Office in the state.

Kubiangha, who was accompanied by members of the state management team and the National Directorate Headquarters (NDHQ) Monitoring Officer, Mr Peter Okpanachi, inspected the exercise at Obokun, Ilesa East and Ilesa West Local Government Areas of the state .

He said that the extension of service of the eleven corps members was in line with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.

According to him, we have 18 corps members that absconded from service, while 1,702 successfully completed the mandatory one-year national service and received their Certificates of National Service.

“I urged you all to remain grateful to God and approach the next phase of your lives with determination, integrity and commitment to excellence.

“The Certificate of National Service is only a foundation upon which you must build successful and impactful careers through hard work, innovation, resilience and discipline,” he said.

The state coordinator charged the passing-out corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the scheme by upholding the values of patriotism, selfless service, honesty and good character wherever they found themselves.

He further encouraged them to be law-abiding citizens and to continue contributing meaningfully to nation-building and community development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that outstanding Corps Liaison Officers were presented with Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their exemplary leadership and meritorious service during the service year.

Kubiangha, therefore, expressed confidence that the discharged corps members would excel in their chosen careers and make positive contributions to society.
