Police nab two suspected kidnappers, recover 26 stolen goats in Yobe

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Police operatives under Yobe State Command have arrested two suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and recovered 26 stolen goats during an operation in Gujba Local Government Area.
According to a press statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the breakthrough followed the abduction of one Idi Musa of Kolmamaji Village on 7 July, 2026.

“The Gujba Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress report that unknown armed men had forcibly taken the victim and his Kasea motorcycle to an unknown destination.

“In response, the division mobilized operatives and commenced coordinated search-and-rescue operations alongside intelligence gathering to secure the victim’s release and apprehend the perpetrators,” SP Abdulkarim said.

The statement disclosed that on 10 July 2026, the victim escaped from the kidnappers’ hideout and reported to the police and during debriefing, he (victim) provided credible information that aided the investigation.

“Acting on the intelligence, police operatives on 11 July 2026 arrested two suspects identified as Musa Damuna, 23, and Yusufa Muhammad Bello, 21, both of Mutai Ward, Gujba LGA.

“During the operation, the police also recovered 26 goats suspected to be stolen,” the statement added.

It also said that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects had already disposed the victim’s motorcycle before their arrest, while the Command said efforts are ongoing to trace and recover the motorcycle and apprehend other members of the syndicate currently at large.

“The suspects remain in police custody and will be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigation,” the statement noted.
