Police Recover Pistol, Stolen Vehicle In Gombe

The Gombe State Police Command has recovered a Beretta pistol and a stolen Toyota Camry following two separate operational successes in the state.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, the police revealed that the firearm and vehicle were secured during coordinated responses to tips and operational leads.

According to the police, the Beretta pistol—fitted with an empty magazine—was discovered concealed beneath a stone near the Brave Rock Sport and Recreational Park in the new GRA area of the Gombe metropolis.

Detectives were dispatched to the scene immediately after a vigilant resident spotted the hidden weapon and alerted local authorities.

The command confirmed that a full investigation has been launched to trace the source of the firearm and identify the individuals behind it.

In a separate operation, officers from the Command’s Control Room and the Dukku Division intercepted a stolen 2010 Toyota Camry.

Upon realising that law enforcement was closing in, the suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. A search of the abandoned car yielded a bunch of fabricated master keys alongside other incriminating items.

Abdullahi stated that a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspect. The Police Command praised members of the public for providing timely information.

It urged residents to remain alert and continue assisting security agencies in maintaining law and order across the state.
