Tinubu govt’s borrowing astronomical, now a concern – Sen Aliero

The senator representing Kebbi Central, Adamu Aliero, has said borrowings by the President Bola Tinubu’s administration has become a serious concern to Nigerians.

Senator Aliero described the borrowings by the President Tinubu administration as astronomical.

Speaking in Abuja, the lawmaker said: “We have seen an astronomical rise in borrowing and this borrowing is of serious concern to Nigerians. What I’m saying is in the public domain as it’s not anything hidden.

“When this government came in, it inherited I think over N75 trillion and now it has added almost N75 to N80 trillion in borrowing.

“And despite this, the budget implementation is nowhere close to where we want it to be. We have not even started implementing the 2026 budget.”
