Troops arrest high-profile terrorist hiding in Borno community

Daily Post about 1 hour 1 mins read

Troops of the 109 Special Forces Battalion, in collaboration with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, have arrested a suspected high-profile terrorist in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.

In a post on X, counter-terrorism expert Zagazola Makama said the suspect, identified as Madumaki Modugai, was tracked and apprehended at about 10:45 p.m. on October 5, 2026, in Magumeri town following intelligence-led operations.

Zagazola stated that the suspect was said to have sneaked into the town, triggering panic among residents who became apprehensive over his presence.

He added that the terrorist’s arrest, however, helped to calm the situation and restore confidence among the locals.

The security expert further revealed that preliminary interrogation showed that the suspect had allegedly been operating around the fringes of the Lake Chad region and Niger Republic.

“The suspect remains in military custody for further interrogation and necessary action, while security agencies are expected to investigate his activities, movements and possible links with terrorist networks operating around the Lake Chad basin,” he said.
