National Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ikenna Enekweizu, has said that some people, fearing defeat, do not want the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to be on the ballot for the 2027 general elections.

He, however, said that Nigerians would rise up against tyranny.

Enekweizu stated this while reacting to the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja, which set aside its earlier judgment directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register the NDC as a political party.

The national secretary, while arguing that no order was made to deregister the NDC, said that the party would not go through a fresh hearing on the matter.

Justice Isah Dashen, who delivered the ruling on Friday, held that the court’s December 10, 2025, judgment adversely affected the rights of the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which was not joined as a party in the suit despite claiming ownership of the logo relied upon in obtaining the judgment.
