Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable has sparked fresh debate on social media after criticising some of the country’s biggest Afrobeats stars over the themes of their music.
The outspoken artiste singled out Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and Olamide, claiming their songs lack messages that inspire listeners or promote faith.
His remarks have attracted widespread attention online, with fans and critics weighing in on whether musicians should prioritise motivational and religious themes over entertainment.
The comments have also reignited conversations about the role of artists in influencing society through their music.
Portable has built a reputation for making bold statements about fellow entertainers and trending issues, often generating mixed reactions across social media platforms.
Speaking on the issue, Portable said, “I noticed that Wizkid, Davido, Burna boy and Olamide don’t praise God in their song. They only sing about ladies. Their songs have no motivation.”
The statement quickly spread online, prompting discussions among fans of the four artistes, many of whom defended their favourite musicians by pointing to songs they believe contain inspirational, reflective or spiritual messages.
