World Cup: Argentina stars under fire after Spain defeat

Daily Post about 14 hours 1 mins read

Argentina players have come under fire following their World Cup final 1-0 defeat to Spain on Sunday.

Ferran Torres’ extra-time goal gave Spain the victory against Argentina in New Jersey.

Reacting, former Chelsea midfielder Craig Burley lashed out at Lionel Scaloni’s men for their ‘disgusting and disgraceful’ performance against the La Roja.

“I’d go as far as to say Argentina were a complete and utter disgrace,” Burley said on ESPN.

“Both with their performance and their antics. We expected the antics, we expected the off-the-ball stuff, but also expected a lot more on the ball, a lot more purpose, a lot more about their play.

“They were utter shambles, disgusting, disgraceful. And yeah, I am so pleased Spain won.

“To put that kind of performance in a World Cup final, that negative… it was a disgusting performance.”
