The BSIC Islamic Banking Window on Thursday donated D275,000 to the Pipeline Mosque to support the ongoing renovation of the mosque.
The donation ceremony held at the Pipeline Mosque premises brought together officials and staff of BSIC Islamic Banking Window, members of the Pipeline Mosque Foundation, and others.
BSIC Islamic Banking Window director Malick Joof said the donation reflects the values upon which Islamic finance is built: social responsibility, fairness, compassion and shared prosperity. He added: “These are values that encourage us to support our communities and contribute positively to their development. Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of BSIC Bank, The Gambia’s philosophy. We believe that successful businesses have a responsibility to give back to the communities they serve. Our support for the Pipeline Mosque is a demonstration of this commitment and our recognition of the important role that religious institutions play in promoting moral values, social cohesion and community welfare.”
He said the bank is committed to supporting community development initiatives, particularly projects that promote religious and social welfare.
Alhaji Momodou Senghore, the first vice president of Pipeline Mosque Foundation (PMF) expressed his appreciation for the “generous” donation, describing it as a timely contribution that will help accelerate the renovation works and improve the mosque for worshippers.
BSIC Islamic Banking Window relationships manager Jainaba Jallow, stated:
“As an institution guided by the principles of Islamic finance, we believe in supporting initiatives that strengthen our communities and promote the values of faith, unity, and social responsibility. Mosques play a vital role not only as places of worship but also as centres of learning, guidance, and community development”.
She expressed her hope that the bank’s contribution will assist the committee in its efforts to improve and preserve the important house of Allah for the community.
