Deregistration: Justice Lifu, threat to Nigeria’s democracy – Atiku’s aide, Paul Ibe

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Paul Ibe, media aide to the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has accused Justice Peter Lifu of the Abuja Federal High Court of plotting to sabotage Nigeria’s democracy.

Ibe, alleged that Justice Lifu, who gave the controversial ruling that ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to de-register ADC, Accord Party and three other political parties, is also presiding over another suit seeking to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.

In a post on his official X handle on Wednesday, Ibe warned that “any democracy that abhors opposition parties is a recipe for chaos and anarchy”.

He further stated that the Abuja Federal High Court judge is not “qualified to sit at a beer parlour bench”.

The post reads, “The morning after, it should be crystal clear to all Nigerians irrespective of party affiliations that Justice Peter Lifu is a threat to our Democracy.

“Apart from being saddled with the contrived cases against the ADC, he is also presiding over the cases of NDC and APM all aimed at deregistering the opposition parties.

“Like the Court of Appeal said yesterday, Justice Lifu is a misfit to the judiciary and is not qualified to sit at a beer parlour bench”.
