Enugu Hosts National Trade Council, Calls For Partnerships To Drive Investment,Job Creation

 

The Enugu State Government has called on stakeholders at the 17th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment to forge strategic partnerships and adopt practical policies that will enhance competitiveness, attract investment and create jobs across Nigeria.

The call was made by the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ossai on Friday, while declaring open the technical session of the council in Enugu.

The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, investors and development partners to deliberate on strategies for strengthening Nigeria’s industrial, trade and investment landscape.

Ossai said the state remained open for business and is committed to creating an enabling environment that supports industrialisation, investment and sustainable economic transformation.

President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Engr. Jani Ibrahim, advised governments and stakeholders to move beyond deliberations by implementing recommendations from previous council meetings to achieve tangible economic outcomes.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, and the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, John Enoh, urged stakeholders to build a more competitive industrial sector capable of driving productivity, innovation and long-term economic growth.

In his remarks, Deputy Governor Ossai reiterated the need for stronger collaboration among governments, the private sector and development partners, noting that practical policy implementation and sustained partnerships are critical to attracting investment, boosting industrial capacity and creating employment opportunities.

As the 17th National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment concluded, stakeholders expressed optimism that the resolutions reached would translate into actionable policies capable of strengthening Nigeria’s industrial base, improving competitiveness and accelerating inclusive economic growth.
