Taraba Concludes Fire Service Recruitment, Successful Candidates Set For Lagos Training

 

The Taraba State Government has concluded its three-day recruitment exercise for the State Fire Service in Jalingo, with successful candidates selected for training at the Federal Fire Service Academy in Lagos.

The Permanent Secretary, General Services, Haruna Abubakar, said the exercise was aimed at recruiting qualified personnel to operate the modern firefighting equipment recently procured by Governor Agbu Kefas.

He explained that the selected candidates would undergo intensive training to enhance their professional skills, strengthen the state’s firefighting capacity and improve emergency response services across Taraba State.

Abubakar noted that applicants were drawn from all 16 local government areas and their respective wards to ensure fairness, equity and inclusiveness throughout the recruitment process.

 

 

According to him, candidates underwent rigorous physical, mental and medical examinations to assess their fitness for the demanding responsibilities of firefighting.

He added that only applicants who met all the required standards were shortlisted, while those found medically unfit or unable to satisfy the recruitment criteria were disqualified.

The permanent secretary assured that successful candidates would be employed by the Taraba State Government after completing the recruitment process and the mandatory training programme.

He commended Governor Agbu Kefas for prioritising the strengthening of the state’s fire service through improved manpower and the acquisition of modern firefighting equipment.

Also speaking, the Project Manager of Nigerbird Engineering Consultants/Contractors, Victor Fidi, described the recruitment exercise as transparent and credible.

He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the Taraba State Government’s efforts to improve fire safety infrastructure and emergency response services in the state.
