The Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (KTSUBEB) has commenced the distribution of EiDU learning materials to public primary schools across the state in a renewed effort to improve the quality of basic education and strengthen pupils’ academic foundation.

The initiative, which targets primary one to primary three pupils, involves the distribution of 2,954 textbooks to 30 selected public primary schools under the EiDU learning programme.

The intervention is designed to support teachers with modern instructional materials while improving literacy and numeracy skills among young learners.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony held on Tuesday at Ahmadu Commasie Primary School, Kayalwa, Katsina, the Executive Chairman of KTSUBEB, Kabir Magaji, described the programme as a significant milestone in the state’s drive to provide every child with access to quality education.

He explained that the EiDU learning materials were carefully developed to promote effective classroom teaching and ensure that pupils acquire strong foundational skills needed for future academic success. According to him, investing in quality learning resources remains one of the most effective ways of improving learning outcomes in public schools.

Magaji urged headteachers to ensure the textbooks are properly distributed, safeguarded and used strictly for the purpose they were intended, stressing that the materials should directly benefit pupils and enhance classroom instruction.

He further reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration to improving the standard of basic education through sustained investment in teaching and learning materials, teacher support programmes and other strategic interventions aimed at repositioning the education sector.

The event was attended by members of the KTSUBEB Board, directors of the board, Education Secretaries from Katsina, Funtua, Daura, Batagarawa and Charanchi Local Government Education Authorities, as well as school administrators and other stakeholders in the education sector.

The distribution of the EiDU learning materials forms part of KTSUBEB’s broader efforts to create a more conducive learning environment, strengthen foundational education, and equip young pupils with the knowledge and skills required for lifelong learning and academic excellence across Katsina State.
