Mutfwang pledges lasting peace, business-friendly environment in Plateau

JOS –  Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has pledged to sustain a peaceful and business-friendly environment across the state, assuring the Igbo community and other law-abiding residents of adequate protection for their lives, property and investments, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to justice, economic inclusion and equal opportunities for all.

The governor gave the assurance at the weekend during an interactive meeting with leaders of the Igbo community drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state at the Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

Mutfwang described the Ndigbo as indispensable partners in Plateau’s economic development, saying their contributions to commerce, industry and investment had remained critical to the state’s economic growth and prosperity.

He said his administration would continue to implement policies aimed at guaranteeing peace, strengthening security and creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish and attract more investments.

According to him, “The relationship between Plateau State and the Igbo community is founded on mutual trust, respect and a shared vision for progress.

“We deeply value your contributions and remain committed to protecting every law-abiding resident while creating a peaceful, secure and business-friendly environment where enterprises can thrive and investments are protected.”

Responding to concerns over a land dispute involving a member of the Igbo community, the governor assured the delegation that justice would prevail after the conclusion of all legal and administrative processes.

He stressed that his administration would continue to uphold fairness, due process and the protection of the legitimate rights of every resident, irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation.

The governor also announced a donation to support the activities of the Igbo community in Plateau, describing the gesture as a token of appreciation for the community’s longstanding contributions to the state’s socio-economic development.

Mutfwang further appreciated the support the Igbo community gave him during the 2023 governorship election and reaffirmed his resolve to pursue inclusive governance anchored on peaceful coexistence, shared prosperity and equal opportunities for all.

Earlier, the President-General of Ndigbo in Plateau State, Chief Chidi Onah, commended the governor for his inclusive leadership style and commitment to peace, unity and equitable development.

Onah reaffirmed the support of the Igbo community for the Mutfwang administration and pledged its continued cooperation in advancing the development of Plateau State.

Our correspondent reports that  other Igbo leaders also applauded the cordial relationship between the state government and the community and appealed for compensation over a property belonging to one of their members that was acquired by the government in the overriding public interest.

The meeting ended with both parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the long-standing partnership between the Plateau State Government and the Igbo community in the interest of peace, economic growth and sustainable development.
