Ogun Government Graduates 1,000 Amotekun Corps Members

 

 

A thousand members of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, have been graduated to bolster the security architecture of the state, especially in the grassroots areas of the state

At the passing-out parade held at the International Stadium in the Sagamu area of the state, Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by the state Head of Service, Sala Olanrewaju, admonished officers to promote public confidence and uphold the rule of Law in the discharge of their assigned duties

The government, however, asked them to be vigilant in the face of emerging security challenges and embrace intelligence gathering as they work in collaboration with other sister security agencies in the state

“Today’s ceremony is another significant milestone in our collective determination to ensure that Ogun State remains one of the safest places to live, work, and invest.

“Security remains the bedrock upon which sustainable development thrives. Without peace and security, economic growth, social progress, and human development cannot be fully realised,” he said

“Since the establishment of the Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, the Agency has continued to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies in safeguarding lives and property across our dear state. The courage, vigilance, and professionalism demonstrated by the Corps have contributed immensely to strengthening community policing and improving public confidence in our security architecture.”

He reiterated the commitment of the administration towards strengthening the security architecture of the state for effective service delivery

“The administration of His Excellency has remained unwavering in its commitment to providing the necessary support, logistics, training, and welfare required to enable our agencies to discharge their responsibilities effectively. This commitment aligns with our administration’s vision of Building Our Future Together under the ISEYA agenda, where every resident can live and pursue legitimate endeavours in a peaceful and secure environment.”

He, however, asked the graduating officers to approach their assigned responsibilities with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment

“To the graduating Batch ‘F’ operatives, I congratulate you on your successful completion of training. You have voluntarily chosen the noble path of service to humanity. The knowledge and skills you have acquired must be deployed with discipline, integrity, fairness, and respect for the rule of law.

“As ambassadors of the Amotekun Corps, you must uphold the highest standards of professionalism. Your responsibility goes beyond combating crime; it includes building trust with the communities you serve, protecting the rights of citizens, and working harmoniously with other security agencies. Let your conduct at all times reflect honour, patriotism, and selfless service,” he said.

“I also urge you to remain vigilant against emerging security threats, embrace intelligence gathering, and maintain cordial relationships with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and other critical stakeholders whose cooperation is essential for effective grassroots security.”

The governor also assured improved welfare and operational capacity.

“Let me assure the Commander and the entire Amotekun Corps that the Ogun State Government will continue to strengthen the operational capacity of the Agency through continuous training, improved welfare, and the provision of modern equipment necessary for effective service delivery.

“As we celebrate today’s achievement, let us all remember that security is a shared responsibility. I therefore call on all residents of Ogun State to continue supporting our security agencies by providing timely and credible information that will help prevent crime and promote peace in our communities,” he added.

In his own contribution, the Corps Commander, Alade Adedigba, said the graduating officers have been put through training that has brought out the best in them.

He commended the state government for the efforts so far towards ensuring a disciplined, service-oriented corps for effective security of life and property, especially at the grassroots.
