Unidentified woman dies in house fire in home of man she met at nightclub

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has confirmed the unfortunate death of an unidentified woman in a fire incident at a residential building along Ikpa Road in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

DAILY POST gathered on Wednesday that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, July 21, after the victim had accompanied her male companion to the residence.

The man reportedly met the deceased at a local nightclub in Uyo and decided to take her home before a fire incident broke out in the apartment.

It was gathered that while the male resident was able to escape the burning structure unharmed, the woman was trapped inside and suffered fatal burns.

When contacted by DAILY POST, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Command, Timfon John confirmed the incident.

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command confirms that a fire incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, 20th July 2026, at a residential building located along Ikpa Road, Uyo.

“Regrettably, one female adult lost her life in the incident, while a male occupant survived”, he said.

The PPRO further stated that the “deceased had not been formally identified. Efforts are ongoing to establish her identity, and updates will be communicated as soon as they become available”.
